Life was so simple. All one had to do was to wake up in the morning to what ever the day had to offer. If it was sunny, the day was spent playing games in the dirt making mud pies that baked in the hot concrete sidewalks. While the pies baked a game of hop-scotch or jump rope seem to always be the thing to do. Or better yet we'd get money from our parents and it'd be a trip around the corner of the block, to get the glass bottled ice cold CocaCola. Then back around the corner for our sugary delights. Life was good! There were no worries. With parents around it was like hitting the lottery BIG! You got the house, the car with the chauffer, housekeeper, and playmates, if you were one of the lucky ones. Toys were a given, that's where aunts, uncles and grandparents came into the picture. As a child it seemed that we had all the power. One single tear could cause even the toughest of men to crumble into submission. The power to manipulate those around us was "child's play".
